Buxin She

About me

Buxin She is an Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Kansas State University. He leads the Intelligent Power (IP) Lab, which develops methods for secure, resilient, and economical power systems with inverter-based resources (IBRs) and artificial intelligence (AI).

Before joining K-State, he was a Senior Research Engineer in the Optimization and Control Group at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. At PNNL, he led two Laboratory Directed Research and Development (LDRD) projects, on resilience analysis of cyber-physical power systems and on stability characterization of power-electronics-dominant power systems. He also co-led a project sponsored by the DOE Wind Energy Technologies Office (WETO).

He serves as Chair of the IEEE Task Force on Virtual Inertia Scheduling and Control for IBR-Dominant Power Systems and as Sub-Team Lead of the Modeling Requirements and Data Collection Subteam within the ESIG Large Loads Task Force.

He is an Associate Editor of IEEE Data Description, Unconventional Resources, and Chinese Journal of Electrical Engineering. He has also served as Guest Editor for International Journal of Electrical Power and Energy Systems and IET Renewable Power Generation, and as a member of the Young Advisory Board of IET Energy Conversion and Economics.
